CHANDIGARH, JAN 18 Punjab and Kerala riders had another field day today as they pocketed three gold each today in the National Track Cycling Championship being conducted by the Chandigarh Amateur Cycling Association at the Punjabi University Velodrome in Patiala on Saturday.
Punjab won first positions in the Keirin Race for Boys Under-19, 2 km Team Pursuit for Boys Under-17 and 15 km Point Race for Boys Under-19.
Kiran Inder Singh won the first gold of the day for Punjab by winning the Keirin Race for Boys Under-19.
Rahul Borde (Maharashtra) and Arun Mohan (Kerala) got silver and bronze, respectively.
The Punjab squad of Amrit Singh, Shahbaaz Singh, Karanbir Singh and Kuldeep Singh displayed better coordination to clock 2:32:463 in the 2 km Team Pursuit for Boys Under-17.
The Maharashtra team ( Saipin Donur, Bhimro Dhembre, Tushar Kadam, Swapnil Mane) got silver with a timing of 2:38:215. Kerala (Nandu Vijayan, Rahul RV, Amaljit AG, Vinayak V) secured third in 2:43:890.
Narpender Jeet Singh claimed third gold for Punjab as he won the 15 km Point Race for Boys Under-19.
Sayona P.O of Kerala was credited with first position in the 15 km Point Race for Girls Under-19.
The Kerala team of Rajani V, Mahitha Mohan, Mable Antony pedaled to glory in the Olympic Sprint for Women which they won in 2:03.173 and pushing Manipur team (. Rameshwari Devi, N. Chooba Devi , H. Rerubala Devi) to second position. Manipur clocked 2:04.207. The Punjab squad (Sandeep Kaur, Rajwinder Kuar, Gurpreet Kaur) secured bronze in 2:05.640.
Kerala’s Mahita Mohan collected 25 points for gold in the 10 km Points Race for women. Kerala also claimed silver through Mable Antony who got 11 points.
Manipur’s Nita Devi got bronze with seven points. O Bikram Singh of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited bagged gold in Keirin Race for Men. Sayona P.O of Kerala was credited with first position in the 15 km Point Race for Girls Under-19.
