Jan 10United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has recommended the Security Council to extend the term of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) by another six months to assist in the peace process.
The present extended term of the UNIMI expires on 23rd of this month. Mr. Ban however, recommended downsizing the mission currently headed by a Special Representative of the Secretary General.
In his report, the Secretary General has also expressed disappointment with the slow progress on key issues related to peace process since the formation of the new coalition government.
